Accompanying Persons Program

Singapore’s cosmopolitan blend of cultural influences is reflected in its ethnically diverse cuisine and the choice is vast; ranging from cheap and cheerful food sold at hawker stalls; to high-end, Michelin-star cuisine in interesting locations.

The ABA is delighted to offer accompanying persons and families of delegates the opportunity to book into a range of programs. These programs will centre around Singapore’s food and artisanal culture, as well as explore historic and iconic Singapore destinations. 

Registration for the partner program/s can be finalised during primary delegate registration.  For the best experience, it is recommended that accompanying persons participate in the whole day’s program.  Access to individual or a combination of activities however, may be purchased by selectiing ‘Design My Program’ in the Accompanying Persons section of the registration portal.
Prices include air-conditioned coach transfers and service of a local, uniformed English-speaking guide along with entry as specified below.

9am – Stop 1: Private Tour of the National Gallery of Singapore

National Gallery Singapore is a progressive visual arts institution which oversees the largest public collection of modern art in Singapore and Southeast Asia.  Situated at the birthplace of modern Singapore, in the heart of the Civic District, the Gallery is housed in two national monuments – City Hall and former Supreme Court – that have been beautifully restored and transformed into this exciting 64,000m² venue.  Reflecting Singapore’s unique heritage and geographical location, the Gallery creates dialogues between the art of Singapore, Southeast Asia and the world to foster and inspire a creative and inclusive society.

This tour includes an exclusive docent guided tour at National Gallery of Singapore before doors open to the public.

11am – Stop 2: Scent making at Haji Lane

The next stop on your tour is Singapore’s buzzing enclave Haji Lane where you will visit Sifr Aromatics. Sifr Aromatics is an experimental offshoot by third-generation owner Johari Kazura. Here you can experiment with more innovative scents like the heady “East”, a blend of oud (agarwood), rose absolute, amber and neroli, and develop your own take-home signature scent. Shop for handmade, high-quality body balms, scented candles and vintage perfume bottles.

This tour includes an exclusive perfume making class at Haji Lane and a take-home bottle of bespoke scent.

12pm – Stop 3: Lunch at Mamanda
After a morning of experiencing the history of Singapore, you will be whisked away to Mamanda: Singapore’s most famous traditional Malay restaurant. Housed in the 173-year-old historical former house of heir apparent to the Sultan’s Throne, Tengku Mahmud, this restaurant is located along Sultan Gate. You are guaranteed an ‘as authentic as it gets meal’ with the restaurant located right within the Malay Heritage Centre. While Mamanda exudes a luxurious vibe, the food itself is comforting and the vibe convivial. Mamanda offers some of the best Asian cuisine in Singapore, celebrating the era of Malay cultural refinement, social elegance and general prosperity. Here you will enjoy an authentic, Malay group lunch before retreating to the Long Bar at Raffles for a Singapore Sling!

NB: as Mamanda is a traditional Malay restaurant, alcohol will not be served.

2pm – Stop 4: Singapore Sling at Raffles Hotel’s Long Bar
The Singapore Sling, widely regarded as the national drink of the country, was first created in 1915 at Raffles Singapore by bartender Ngiam Tong Boon. The most famous cocktail in town is served in the Long Bar of Raffles Hotel and is essential for anyone visiting the city.

This old-fashioned bar is set up a set of stairs at the hotel and is packed every night with people enjoying the fruity concoction with a handful of monkey nuts. This tour includes air-conditioned coach transfer, English speaking guide and a visit to the iconic Long Bar at Raffles Hotel. Drinks may be purchased on a user-pays basis.

Following drinks at Raffles, attendees will be transported back to the Andaz Singapore by 4pm in time to change and be transferred to the Welcome Reception at the National Gallery of Singapore’s Aura.

6.15pm – Welcome Reception at Aura, National Gallery of Singapore
Day 1 will conclude for all accompanying persons and delegates at the National Gallery of Singapore’s Aura. Spanning across two floors of National Gallery Singapore, Aura is an elegant and modern multi-concept dining destination by Michelin star chef-restaurateur Beppe de Vito. With stunning views out to Marina Bay Sands, this is the perfect spot to enjoy a sun downer at the end of an entertaining day.

DAY 2 – FRIDAY 12 JULY 2019

9.30am – Stop 1: Tour of Gardens by the Bay

A national garden spanning 101 hectares and premier horticultural attraction for local and international visitors, Gardens by the Bay is a showpiece of horticulture and garden artistry that presents the plant kingdom in a whole new way, entertaining while educating visitors with plants seldom seen in this part of the world, ranging from species in cool, temperate climates to tropical forests and habitats.  Be surrounded in tranquillity by the flora scents and sights at OCBC Skywalk, Cloud Forest & Flower Dome.

Enjoy a local breakfast experience in a coffee shop which includes a cup of local kopi (coffee) or teh (tea)—charcoal-grilled or toasted slices of bread enveloping slivers of cold butter and a generous spread of kaya (a traditional jam made from coconut and eggs). More often than not, this is accompanied by two soft-boiled eggs with runny yolks and translucent whites with a dash of dark soya sauce and white pepper.

This tour includes admission to the Flower Dome, Cloud Forest and OCBC Skywalk and a local breakfast experience in a coffee shop. 

1pm – Stop 2: Lunch at Corner House

Following the tour of Gardens by the Bay, you will be transferred to Michelin-Starred Corner House; an elegant, upscale restaurant set in a 1910 bungalow within the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Serving exquisite Gastro-Botanica cuisine and using French techniques, dishes highlight global flavours, with a focus on botanicals. It also boasts an attractive wine list as well as a fine selection of Armagnacs, Cognacs, Grappas, and other fine spirits. Here you will enjoy a 4-course set lunch and drinks on consumption (paid directly to the restaurant).
3.30pm – Stop 3: free shopping at Orchard Road or transfer to the Andaz Singapore
The last stop in the program is optional free shopping time on Orchard Road before accompanying persons join delegates for the Gala Dinner. Those wishing to explore Singapore’s traditional destination for luxury shopping will be delivered to 5-star Ion Shopping Centre. Those not wishing to explore Orchard Road will be returned to the Andaz Singapore.
7pm – Gala Dinner at the Fullerton Bay Hotel’s the Clifford Pier
Arguably one of Singapore’s most luxurious dining destinations, this restaurant sits on the original Clifford Pier site. Now run by the famous Fullerton Bay Hotel, guests will be treated to the best Singapore has to offer. Don your black tie and celebrate the success of the conference in the elegant surrounds of the waterfront beauty.
